Physician Advisor – Portland, OR
This is a great opportunity for physicians who would like to apply their medical knowledge and years of clinical expertise in an office setting. AllMed Healthcare Management helps healthcare payers to reduce claims costs, while ensuring consistent, high-quality patient coverage. We have a long-term opportunity available with a large health plan, working from our offices in Portland, OR.
This opportunity will be working under the direction of the client who is a leading utilization management provider. In this position, you will serve as an advisor to a team of RNs who process pre-authorization requests. The nurses apply criteria sets to the requests and make determinations of medical necessity based on this criteria and their own medical expertise. This physician’s role is to teach and mentor the nurses in making medical necessity determinations on cases that fall outside of the criteria. The physician will consult on cases with the nurses, interpret criteria for RNs and physician reviewers toward alignment of clinical decision making with clinical criteria and serve as an expert reviewer on many of the cases. You will also play a role in oversight of other physician reviewers, providing clinical leadership in the role of support, monitoring, and education of other physicians.
The successful candidate should have at least five years of varied clinical experience, and possess the following skills/qualities:
- Board Certified in Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology or Orthopedics.
- Ability to read and analyze complex information, including criteria based medical charts, UR nursing notes and clinical criteria.
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
- Ability to teach and educate others on nuances of procedures within your specialty area
- Ability to provide objective, first-level determinations.
- Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to customer service and satisfaction
- Ability to commit to pre-determined schedule; reliable
- Electronic medical records experience helpful
- Ability to navigate varied computer systems and web-based applications

Medical Review Physician (Contract)
This is a great opportunity for physicians who would like to apply their medical knowledge and years of clinical expertise in a flexible setting. AllMed Healthcare Management helps healthcare payers to reduce claims costs, while ensuring consistent patient coverage. We have a long-term contract opportunity available, supporting one of our clients on their system. This opportunity will be working under the direction of the client who is a leading radiology benefits management provider. In this position, you will perform utilization review for various types of imaging procedures.
This is a remote work opportunity from your office or home setting. Flexible work hours will be coordinated with the client.
The successful candidate should have at least five years of varied clinical experience, and possess the following skills/qualities:
- Ability to read and analyze complex information, including criteria based medical charts, UR nursing notes and clinical criteria.
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
- Strong writing skills, computer literacy, including word processing, web applications and email. Must be able to type at least 50 words per minute.

Peer Specialist Reviewers – All Specialties (Contract)
Are you a practicing specialist, seeking to complement your practice with interesting work that can be done from your office or home?
AllMed continuously seeks top medical specialists to join its Peer Specialty Panel and perform independent medical reviews for our clients. We’re looking for board-certified practitioners who are in active practice. Medical Review Physician
We seek a board certified ER or primary care physician in active practice to provide medical chart reviews and determinations to our clients. You will work with our in-house clinical team and coordinate reviews with our panel of over 300 peer specialists.
Working from our offices in downtown Portland, the position will start at 6 hours per week, and will increase to 20 hours per week within six months of employment.
The successful candidate should have at least 5 years of clinical experience, and possess the following skills/qualities:
- Ability to read and analyze complex information, including medical charts and insurance plan documents. Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to provide objective, unbiased medical determinations.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, verbal communications.
- A commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills.
