Anasthesiology
The branch of medicine specializing in the use of drugs or other agents to induce an insensibility to pain. An anasthesiologist is trained to provide pain relief and maintenance or restoration of a stable condition during and immediately following a surgical procedure. Three common types of anasthesia include general (whole body), regional and local application.
