Anemia

A blood condition where there is a lower than normal number of red blood cells, usually measured by a decrease in the amount of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying part of red blood cells. There are many types and potential causes of anemia. Typical symptoms include fatigue, chest pain and shortness of breath. Unusual symptoms include pica and frequent breath holding. Diagnosis includes complete blood count, red blood count and plasma tests. Oral iron supplements are the best way to restore iron levels.
