Anxiety Disorders
Involves an excessive or inappropriate state of arousal characterized by feelings of apprehension, uncertainty or fear. Multiple classifications of anxiety disorders exist, according to the severity and duration of symptoms and specific behavioral characteristics. Anxiety disorder categories include generalized anxiety disorder, which is long lasting and low-grade; panic disorder, which has more dramatic symptoms; phobias; obsessive-compulsive disorder; post-traumatic stress disorder; and separation anxiety disorder, most seen in children.
