Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Compression of the median nerve at the wrist, which may results in numbness, tingling, weakness or muscle damage in the hand and fingers. There are many causes for carpal tunnel syndrome including diabetes, autoimmune diseases, diseases that affect muscle and bones, injuries and previous surgeries, chronic kidney insufficiency and other diseases including Down syndrome, amyloidosis, acromegaly and tumor on the median nerve. Treatment options include wearing a splint and using ergonomic devices to reduce stress; medications like NSAIDs or corticosteroid injections; and carpal tunnel release surgery
