Coronary Heart Disease

A narrowing of the small blood vessels that supply blood and oxygen to the heart. CHD is also called coronary artery disease. With CHD, there may be atypical chest pain, characterized by sharp pains that come and go, and typical chest pain, characterized by a feeling of heavy, closed breathing. Diagnostic tests and exams include ECG, exercise stress test, echocardiogram, nuclear scan, coronary angiography, electron-beam computed tomography, coronary CT angiography and magnetic resonance angiography. Treatment options depend on the symptoms and severity of a patient.
