Evidence-based Medicine
The conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients. EBM is a six-step process that integrates clinical expertise, patient values and the best evidence into the decision making process for patient care. The process includes: establishing a clinical problem with a patient; constructing a well-built clinical question derived from the patient’s case; selecting the appropriate resources and conducting research; appraising the evidence for its validity and applicability; integrating that evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences and evaluating the performance with the patient.
