Excimer Laser
A form of ultraviolet laser which is commonly used for laser eye surgery (LASIK) and semiconductor manufacturing. An excimer laser typically uses a combination of an inert gas and a reactive gas. During the procedure, the surgeon performs a keratectomy which creates a corneal flap to expose the cornea. The excimer laser then reshapes the cornea to the prescribed shape for clear vision. The corneal flap is repositioned and bonds to the cut edge of the cornea quickly.
