Facet Joint Injection

A steroid injection used to localize and treat low back pain caused by problems of the face joints. Facet joints are located on each side of the vertebrae and join the vertebrae together and allow the spine to move with flexibility. A facet joint injection forms a pain block that allows a doctor to confirm that a facet joint is the root cause of a patient’s pain. The medication used also decreases inflammation that occurs in the joint from arthritis and joint degeneration. Two types of facet joint injections are interarticular and nerve blocks.
