Growth Hormone

Growth hormone (gH) stimulates growth and cell reproduction in humans. A gH test measures the amount of growth hormone in the blood. The test is performed when there is abnormal growth in adults and children or when there is a history of a pituitary problem. High levels of growth hormone may indicate acromegaly, giantism, pituitary tumor or growth hormone resistance. Low levels of growth hormone may indicate dwarfism or hypopituitarism.
