Immunotherapy
Refers to an array of treatment strategies based upon the concept of modulating the immune system to achieve a prophylactic and/or therapeutic goal. Cancer immunotherapy attempts to stimulate the immune system to reject and destroy tumors. Immunotherapy seems to offer great promise as a new dimension to cancer treatment, but is still very new. Immunotherapies involving certain cytokines and antibodies are becoming part of standard cancer treatment.
