Lyme Disease
An inflammatory disease spread through a tick bite. There are three stages of Lyme disease. Symptoms resemble the flu and include fever, headache, chills, muscle pain and lethargy. Patients with a later stage of the disease may have stiff neck, joint inflammation, body-wide itching or unusual behavior. Blood tests, most commonly the ELISA, are done to check for antibodies to the bacteria. Treatment options include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications to relieve joint stiffness.
