Medical Executive Committee

Has the primary authority for activities related to self governance of a healthcare facility’s medical staff and for performance improvement of the professional services provided by all practitioners privileged through medical staff process. Some duties of a medical executive committee include representing and acting on behalf of a medical staff in the intervals between medical staff meetings, subject to limitations as may be impose by staff bylaws; coordinating and implementing the professional and organizational activities and policies of a medical staff; receiving and acting upon reports and recommendations from medical staff departments; assuring that the clinical and medical operations teams are accountable and meet their responsibilities; recommending action to the governing body on medical staff matters; and evaluating the medical care rendered to patient in the hospital.
