Oral Appliance
A small acrylic device that fits over the upper and lower teeth or tongue, improving breathing and reducing snoring and apnea. The appliance is fabricated and customized for patient by a dentist experienced in the treatment of sleep apnea. Mandibular advancement devices and tongue retaining devices are two main categories of oral appliances. Oral appliance therapy is indicated for patients with primary/heavy snoring; mild or moderate sleep apnea and certain cases of severe OSA; poor tolerance of nasal CPAP; failure of surgery; use during travel or in combination with a nasal CPAP.
