Poliner vs. Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas

The case involved the unwarranted suspension of Dr. Lawrence Poliner’s cardiac catheterization privileges in 1998. Poliner sued James Knochel, MD; Charles Levin, MD; John F. Harper, MD; and the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, claiming that the defendants “improperly and maliciously used the peer review process to summarily suspend [his] privileges, thereby causing damage to his interventional cardiology practice.” The jury found the defendants guilty and awarded Dr. Poliner $366 million.
