Seizure Disorders

A seizure is a sudden change in behavior due to an excessive electrical activity in the brain. Seizures may be caused by epilepsy, injury or trauma to the head, infection, brain tumors or stroke. Patients with epilepsy are prone to seizures. To establish the root cause of the seizure, diagnostic tests, such as a CT scan or MRI of the head, EEG, or lumbar puncture may be done. Treatment options include medications.
