Sick Sinus Syndrome
A collection of heart rhythm disorders that include: sinus bradycardia, tachycardias and bradycardia-tachycardia. Coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and aortic and mitral valve diseases may be associated with sick sinus syndrome. Symptoms include fainting or near fainting; dizziness or light-headedness; confusion or other changes in mental status; heart palpitations; chest pain or angina; shortness of breath; and fatigue. Diagnostic tests and exams include blood pressure check, ECG, Holter monitoring or an intracardiac electrophysiology study.
