Speech Language Therapy

Treatment ideal for most children with speech and/or language disorders. A speech disorder refers to a problem with the actual production of sounds while a language disorder refers to a difficulty understanding or putting words together to communicate ideas. Strategies used during treatment include language intervention activities and articulation therapy. Speech-language therapy is successful for patients with articulation disorders, fluency disorder or resonance and voice disorders. It may be used for children with hearing impairments, cognitive or developmental delays, weak oral muscles, birth defects such as cleft lip or cleft palate, autism, motor planning problems, respiratory problems, swallowing disorder or traumatic brain injury.
