Obama Urges Quick Action on Insurance

To any person working in the health care industry, the fact that President Obama "affirmed his support for the creation of a government-sponsored health insurance plan" yesterday is already well swallowed. However, have you actually thought of the implications of a government-supported health insurance plan?

Political ideologies aside, those in the insurance payer positions must realize that this action is effecting the payers. The president stated that this government-sponsored plan would be a way to reduce the increasing costs of health coverage.

There are still many factors that need to be considered in the plan; for example, how the government is going to raise the millions of dollars needed to get the plan into functionality. Furthermore, the plan is not supported bipartisanly, as Republicans almost vehemently are against the plan.

What do you think about the plan? One way that government-sponsored heath insurance could be very beneficial is that it could reduce errors in medicine, much like an independent review organization, by establishing a nation-wide standard on health care.
