Playing it Safe

An article from the New York Times

The New York Times reported that the National Cancer Institute recently gave grants to non-cancer related studies, making cancer researchers question what types of studies are most important in today's healthcare world.

Should we be concerned with the taste of food or the ability to cure cancer? These are just a few of the questions running through researchers' minds.

Of course, the more research and studies that are able to be conducted, the better our world will be. But why does one study receive a grant but not the other? Most researchers blame the grant system that the National Cancer Institute works from.
